Article Submission

Thinking of writing an article for In-Mind magazine?

We look forward to your contribution! In-Mind publishes articles from all psychological subdisciplines that may interest a general audience. Our goal is to present psychological research in all its diversity and to get readers excited about psychological research and findings. The magazine publishes short review articles in English written by active researchers. Submissions go through a peer-review process. This means that each In-Mind submission is reveiwed by at least two people. We strive to have at least one expert on the research topic of the article, and one language expert. The experts will provide suggestions for revisions in order to reach high quality both when it comes to the scientific content as well as its presentation. As In-Mind is aimed at a wide range of interested readers, it is particularly important to write in a clear, structured way and to largely avoid technical jargon.

Despite the peer-review process, In-Mind is not a scientific journal for publishing original data. As a result, the journal articles should not be written as such. We encourage authors who wish to submit an article to first read previously published articles in In-Mind Magazine to get a better idea of how this type of article typically may look.

The editorial board is available to answer any questions that you may have so don't hesitate to reach out to us.

General instructions

The preferred length on an article is about 1500-2000 words. You should include no more than 15 references. Make sure to follow the current APA guidelines. Free summaries of the APA guidelines are available online (e.g. here).

A submission should include a series of predefined elements. We ask you to include things like a title and a main text, but also elements that are specific for an article written for a general audience. This includes things like a teaser (a short introduction that should spark interest for reading the piece) and a "snippet" (brief texts to use for Search Engine Optimization). All elements that should be included in your submission are explained under the "Submission guidelines".

Submission guidelines

(1) Carefully read the instructions to authors to find out what elements should be included in your article
(2) Also consult the checklist for authors that will help you tailor your text to a general audience
(3) Send your submission to sofia.calderon@psy.gu.se
